Invisalign Vs. Braces…

People ask me all the time, why did you get braces and not Invisalign?

Even though braces are more of an adjustment to daily life, Dr. Kaplan and I chose the most suitable course of treatment for my needs. While Invisalign is amazing and pretty much invisible, which is a huge plus as an adult in need of orthodontic treatment, it wasn’t exactly right for my needs.

We chose to use Insignia technology for my Damon clear braces. (I chose to have my upper brackets clear rather than metal so they are a little more discreet) Treatment with Insignia is totally personalized to the individual patient, i.e. me!! We used our Lythos scanner to create a 3D image of my teeth, so no gooey impressions it was so easy and mess free!! Then Dr. K sent the images off to the Insignia lab and they worked on a treatment plan for me.

Shortly after they sent back my treatment plan with an amazing image of my teeth and bite once the treatment is complete!  They created a personalized plan including the exact placement of the brackets on my teeth. The bonus (for the patient) of the assistants knowing exactly where to place the brackets on each tooth is that it will ensure we are optimizing the movement of my teeth; in turn this means that my treatment time should be less than if we weren’t using Insignia technology!

So while you can see my braces more obviously than if I was wearing Invisalign aligners, the plan is that I will have a faster time in treatment (15 months) and great results sooner than if I went the aligner’s route!

I guess that’s the long answer to the question!
