Valentines Day
February is such a fun & busy month, the next event on the calendar is Valentines Day! How could you miss it, the stores have been stocked with hearts, candy & chocolate pretty much since January 1st! So while your planning & preparing for a romantic evening with your significant other, or your getting ready for an exciting first date one thing that will certainly be on your mind is making sure you have a kissable mouth!
Here are a few tips for a suitable kissable mouth this valentines day:
To keep your breath consistently fresh, your toothbrush and floss are your best friends. Oral bacteria, the culprits that bring tooth decay and gum disease, can also bring bad breath.
- TIP: Brushing and flossing your teeth at least twice a day will help control the bacterial population, inhibiting the number of germs available to pass gas in your mouth.
Bacteria are not the only reason for bad breath. Strong foods, like onions and garlic, can also leave an unflattering impression. (NOT Valentines friendly!!) Unfortunately, when do you eat these foods, they are metabolized and their stench passed to your lungs, where you will breathe it out until it dissipates on its own.
- TIP: If you do happen to munch on a clove of garlic on valentines day, sugarless gum and sugarless mints can help mask the odor.
While embarrassing on its own merits, bad breath can often signify a deeper issue. For instance, tooth decay and gum disease can cause your breath to sour.
- TIP: Visit your dentist’s office at least every six months, allowing them to inspect your mouth for early signs of disease. Early detection and treatment of dental issues may reduce the need for invasive dental work.
Hopefully these few tips will keep you prepared for a surprise kiss this Valentine’s day!
